The Olympic torch is just one of many icons that hold special significance in this international tradition. Name an Olympic icon and explain what that icon represents to the Olympic Games.

9-12: Creating a Patriotic Performance

In London's opening ceremonies, they tried to represent monumental moments in their history, pop culture icons, and their cultural significance in the world. Imagine that your city will be hosting an Olympic games in the future. Think about the things that make your hometown (state or country) special.

First, brainstorm at least five historical moments, icons or people to represent in your hometown Olympic opening ceremonies. Using that list, compose a plan for your own Olympic opening ceremonies performance.
