Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

AP American History. He knew his content so well that, even though he only lectured all day, I was always riveted.

What are three things every teacher should own?

1.)  Scanner
2.)  Roll-y milk crate
3.)  The perfect mattress

If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?

Got to admit, I love my principal (and no, I'm not sucking up for brownie points)! She's the perfect mix of caring and no-nonsense, with students and new teachers like me.

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?

Librarian. It was actually my original career path. I got into teaching to eventually be a school librarian, but I've fallen in love with being in the classroom.

Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity.

Any layered curriculum at the end of a novel/story unit because the students present the most interesting interpretations and analyses of the stories through puppet shows, board games, mixed tapes, etc.

What is the greatest misconception about teachers?

That we only work a 7 hour day.

What stereotype about teachers is true?

That we get together at the end of the week to gripe.

How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?

Up until my student teaching, I still felt unsure. The first time I saw that light bulb go off for a student after working with them, I realized all of the stuff I was unsure of didn't really matter anymore.
