Who was your favorite teacher? Why?
My high school Biology teacher, Mr. Highfield. He seemed to take an interest in me, and even thought that I was semi-smart =) That really was the first time a teacher made me feel good about myself, and that was my junior year of high school!
What are three things every teacher should own?
1.) A pocket for treasures
2.) A smile for the day
3.) A sense of humor
These are the three most important things because there is no bigger treasure than the smile you give to a child and a sense humor to laugh at yourself.
If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?
My Aunt Madeline-- she really gets it!
What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
Disaster Coordinator-- As I love helping others
Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity
I love -- under the sea, outer space, and dinosaurs.
What is the greatest misconception about teachers?
We are just glorified babysitters.
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
When I stepped into my first group of children and they asked, "What are we doing today" and at the end said, "That was awesome-- are you coming back?"
