Who was your favorite teacher? Why?
My favorite elementary teacher was Mr. Krupp. He was my favorite teacher because he was my first male teacher. He also worked to make a connection with me. My favorite middle school teacher was Mrs. Eisele. She was my speech teacher. She helped instill confidence in me.
What are three things every teacher should own?
1. Be flexible
2. Love what you do
3. Love who you teach
If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?
My dad. My dad is a great leader. He has always allowed freedom from his employees and trusted them implicitly. At the same time, he expects quality work to be done.
What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
If I were to do something other than teach, I would open a tea shop.
Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity.
My favorite unit is the poetry unit. I read two books: Love that Dog and Hate that Cat and we create mirror poems and some original poems. We then put them together in a Bare Book that is worthy of keeping for years to come.
What is the greatest misconception about teachers?
That we are always full of creative ideas and that we come up with everything we do on our own. That is the beauty of teachers, though. We share ideas for everything from lesson plans to classroom management.
