Who was your favorite teacher? Why?
Mr. Thompson, my Latin teacher, was my favorite teacher in high school. He had such a love for learning and made a dead language come alive for all of us.
What are three things every teacher should own?
A Staples Teacher reward card, a stapler, and a pencil sharpener.
If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?
If I could have any person as a principal, it would be my grandfather. He inspired me to view education to be as necessary as breathing. He was a life-long learner and now so am I.
What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
I would love to have been a forensic anthropologist. I love the process of solving the mystery of what happened in the past.
Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity.
My favorite lesson was done with a 6th grade group of students comprised of resource and language impaired children. We had been discussing adjectives. We (I team taught with the LA teacher) gave them the project of designing a cereal box and creating a commercial that they had to perform for the group. It was AMAZING how involved and excited they became. The commercials were wonderful and full of descriptive phrases.
What is the greatest misconception about teachers?
The greatest misconception is that teachers have it easy. HA!
What stereotype about teachers is true?
Teachers love to organize!
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I kind of fell into teaching. It suited my personality.
