Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

In high school, I had two teachers who made such a difference in my life. Paul Lussow was my Ecology teacher. He was just plain fun. My English teacher Michele Kranz was such an influence on my writing. Both of them were wonderful teachers.

What are three things every teacher should own?

Every teacher should have a comfy couch, good music, and a great sense of humor.

If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?

Principal Brad Diller from KWHS was/is an awesome leader.

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?

I would love to be a writer, or a gardener.

Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity.

I love the Penny Project, where students collect a penny for each year of their life and then describe an event in their life to match that year.  They then attach all the pennies to an object which defines who they are. I have done this project for almost 20 years.

What is the greatest misconception about teachers?

I think that students don't realize that we are indeed human.

What stereotype about teachers is true?

We are nerds.

How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?

I didn't know I wanted to be a teacher until I did my student teaching in Laramie.  Once I started working with students, I was hooked.
