3-8: Your Campaign Slogan
Pretend you are running for president. Write a campaign slogan that you could put on a poster. It should include your name and tell people to vote for you. You can use rhyme, alliteration (starting words with the same letter) or a fun theme (American eagles, flags or fireworks for example).
9-12: Judging Presidents
What makes a good president? Brainstorm different characteristics, actions and achievements you think people should use to judge presidents on their time in office. Choose the top three reasons and explain why those are the most important criteria for judging presidential success.

Setting plays a major role in shaping a story. Gnomeo and Juliet is set in two neighboring gardens. What are some characteristics and commonly found objects in backyards and gardens (Include at least 3 in your answer)? How could those characteristics and objects be used in the story?
6-8: Isn't It Punny?
A pun is a figure of speech that plays on the multiple meaning of words. Shakespeare used puns in his plays and poems all the time.
Brainstorm a list of at least 10 words that have more than one meaning. Then, write a sentence for each word that uses it as a pun.

To help cheer for your team, write a positive word or phrase that starts with each letter in "Go Team." For example, "g" is the first letter in "great." Also, "o" is the first letter in "out of this world."
9-12: Casting a Spokesperson
Why is Clint Eastwood a smart casting choice for this Chrysler commercial? To answer, identify descriptive words that you associate with Clint Eastwood's persona. Are those words you would want to associate with a car you're purchasing?
Think of another product. Then, cast an actor who you think would be a good spokesperson for it. Why is your spokesperson a good representative to associate with this product?

The child is dressed in a Darth Vader costume. Darth Vader is the villain character in the Star Wars movies. Can you think of another movie villain? Draw a picture of that villain or create a villain of your own to draw.
6-8: Advertising for Education
All commercials are used to persuade people to like and want a product. Pretend that you have been tasked to make a commercial for “succeeding in school.” How would you get the attention of your audience and persuade them to like school and try their hardest?

6-8: Create Your Own Legend
Legend has it that groundhogs can predict whether we’ll have a long winter or an early spring. The tradition is based on the animal’s instincts and reaction to nature.
Make up your own legend involving another animal.
1. Identify your chosen animal.
2. List at least 5 of the animal’s traits or habits.
3. Using one or more of those attributes, create your own legend regarding that animal’s special powers that people should celebrate.
