K-2: Cheer Jared On!
Make Jared a sign to encourage him during the race. Include inspiring pictures and words that will cheer Jared on. To get started, think of words that your teacher or parents say to make you feel good when you're doing something difficult.
3-5: Training with Your Hero
Jared got to train with professional baseball player Ryan Howard. Think about a sport or hobbies you would like to learn. It doesn't have to be a sport. It could be dancing, arts, writing or anything you can imagine.
Once you've decided on your sport/hobby, choose the athlete or celebrity who would be your trainer. Describe your dream training day (Include the 5 W's & 1 H - who? what? where? when? why? and how?).
6-8: Health Tips for Athletes
To run a marathon, you have to be in good shape. Brainstorm ways people can live a healthy lifestyle, including what they eat, drink and their day-to-day activities.
Create a list of 10 health tips for Jared and explain why each tip will help the athlete succeed in their fitness goal.
9-12: Rising to the Challenge
Training for a marathon takes months of dedication, training and a healthy lifestyle. Think of a time you worked hard to achieve a goal. Describe that experience, including what your goal was and what steps you took to achieve it.
