Parodies of Carly Rae Jepson’s, “Call Me, Maybe” have been popping up all over the internet. From lip-synching sports stars to re-written lyrics, this viral phenomenon has exploded onto the scene.

Use this all-ages parody video starring the Cookie Monster to get your students thinking and writing about sharing and lyrics.

 

K-2: A Few of My Favorite Things

The Cookie Monster sure loves his cookies. They are his favorite thing ever. What are some of your favorite things to share? Draw a picture of one of them.

3-5 Share it Maybe

The Cookie Monster is singing about sharing cookies. Can you think of a time that you wished someone would share something with you? What was it? Did you ask if they would share? How did the story turn out?

6-8 Cookie Branding

In this song, Cookie Monster references a variety of different cookies and brand names. Can you think of some other brands that the lovable blue monster might have forgotten? Write your own verse incorporating your favorite cookies.

9-12 A Viral Parody

The Cookie Monster parody is all about sharing. Viral videos are all about sharing. This parody is one of many viral videos based on the song, “Call Me, Maybe.” If you could write your own viral parody song/video, what song would you use? What would you talk about in your parody?
