Many athletes and celebrities fall into the category of role models, regardless if they choose to be or not. Do you think that celebrities make good role models? Do you think they should assume the responsibility of acting as a role model to young kids, regardless if they want to or not? Write a paragraph describing your opinion.
9-12 Great Expectations
This commercial brings up the issue of expectations other s have for you compared to the expectations:
you have for yourself. Create a list naming at least 5 personal expectations and 5 expectations you believe others have for you. Do you find that any of these conflict?
Pretend that you get to be the voice for a Toy Story 3 toy. What toy would you be? Why would that toy be the perfect fit for your voice?
9-12: The Gender of Play
Ken gets teased for being a girls' toy. Do you think that children gravitating toward traditional toys for their gender is a natural tendency of children or a result of how little boys and girls are treated differently?
If you were in the train station, would you have joined the dancers? Why do you think so many different kinds of people (young & old, boys & girls) joined in?
6-8: Ballroom Brainstorm
There are many different kinds of dances. Brainstorm as many forms of dancing as you can. What do all of those dances have in common?
What would you say to someone who lost a loved one on 9/11? Write a letter expressing your concern.

Do you remember where you were on September 11? Describe your experience.
Would you recognize the girl in the beginning from the final billboard photo? Would you ever want to change so much people didn't recognize you? Why or why not?
9-12: Beauty & the Media
Do you think the media should represent beauty more realistically or should they stick to these airbrushed models? What is their responsibility to the impressionable people (young or old) whom these images affect?
Taylor show resilience and bravery by coming back to perform after last year's embarrassment. When have you shown bravery or resilience? Write it as a story with a beginning, middle and end.
9-12: My Innocent Oasis
Taylor's song is about how you can always be innocent. Are there places or things you like to do that make you feel like an innocent kid? Describe that place or thing and why you think it makes you feel that way
The vortex canon was more powerful than the Big Bad Wolf. Brainstorm 10 villains from popular stories. Break them into pairs and decide, as a class, which of each pair is more powerful.
9-12: Science in StoriesThis experiment was inspired by the story of The Three Little Pigs. Using another fictional story, outline the steps required to scientifically test a seemingly fairy tale concept. (suggestions: Rapunzel, Pied Piper, Jack and the Bean Stalk, concepts from Harry Potter or Twilight, etc.)
Now it's your turn to try the fun theory. Choose a task that is typically boring and make it fun! Describe why your game or "angle" on the chore is more entertaining.
9-12: Does Fun Fade?
This experiment worked for the first day. Do you think people would still choose the stairs more if they were always musical? Explain why the novelty of the piano stairs would either remain OR fade.
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your super power to be? What would you use it to do?
3-5: Your Super Identity
If you were a superhero, what would you want your name to be? Explain why that name would be a perfect fit for you and your super powers. What would you wear? Choose your superhero name and draw a picture of you in your superhero outfit.
In order to rescue the miners, a special shuttle created by NASA was used to bring the miners to the surface. This rescue mission took very precise attention to detail because many lives were at stake.
Break up into small groups and come up with a rescue plan of your own. Remember to keep in mind the geographical conditions of the area, the dangers of the miners being underground, and other characteristics that create the hazardous circumstances for the rescue mission. What kind of equipment would you need? What kind of professionals would you want to be involved in this mission?
