What are three things every teacher should own?

Every teacher should own art supplies, an extensive library, and a journal.


How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?

I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was helping all of my peers in high school interpret Shakespearean literature. I loved explaining literature and having conversations about various meanings of text.

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?

Baking. I love to cook and bake and try new techniques. I enjoy making cakes and cookies for friends and decorating them.

What stereotype about teachers is true?

Their clothes. Every time I ask my Hubby for advice on an outfit he says "those look like teacher clothes" and I say "good, that's what they're for, to teach in!"

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?


I would love to become a professional dancer.  The hours in the studio the contestants on Dancing with the Stars put in would be wonderful exercise!  Plus, I love to perform in front of crowds!

What is the greatest misconception about teachers?

That would have to be that they get the summers off.  I don't know how many times I have had to defend that one.
