If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?
My Dad. He is fair, honest, open, understanding, a good listener, and intelligent. He would run a tight ship, but at the same time make things fun and exciting, as life should always be!
What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
Marketing would be my pick. I am somehow always drawn to community relations, event planning and fundraising. I love doing that and get so much fulfillment out of this type of work!
What are three things every teacher should own?
I mention “tools” in general because those tools might be different for each teacher depending on what fits their teaching style.
1.) Tools to help keep their instruction and classroom organized for optimal learning.
2.) Tools to help with classroom management.
3.) Tools to effectively model strategies and concepts—making the learning explicit, engaging, and concrete.
If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?
I would have loved Helen Keller to be my principal. I feel she would bring her genuine warmth and love of learning to all types of learners and abilities. She would motivate students and faculty alike with her capabilities.
What stereotype about teachers is true?
That we get together at the end of the week to gripe.
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
Up until my student teaching, I still felt unsure. The first time I saw that light bulb go off for a student after working with them, I realized all of the stuff I was unsure of didn't really matter anymore.
