Do you ever lie in the grass looking up at the moon and stars?
Pretend you are doing that now. Write down a list of all the things you see in the sky!
Imagine that there is a super hero called Super Moon. Use the scientific knowledge you gained from the video to help you brainstorm the details for Super Moon’s character.
What does Super Moon look like?
What are his/her/its characteristics?
What do you think his/her/its powers would be?
Draw a picture of your Super Moon character and a 1-2 sentence description.
Before science could explain such phenomena, people would come up with stories about gods and nature to explain them.
Use your imagination to write your own story about the cause and weird effects the moon can have. Write a 2-3 paragraph story with yourself as the protagonist experiencing weird things during a Super Moon.
Make sure to identify the setting (time and place) in which your story takes place. At least one detail of your story should link to one of the scientific realities explained in the video.
As the video reveals, many people hold superstitions associated with the full moon. There are even entire book and film series based on werewolf lore.
Imagine that your best friend is a firm believer in the power that the full moon has over people’s behavior. Write a persuasive argument that provides at least three specific reasons he/she should not believe this superstition.
