Who was your favorite teacher? Why?
My Junior High Choir teacher, he was a great inspiration, motivated, talented, wise and caring. He always went the extra mile with kids to make them geel special - he also taught me MANY life skills because this teacher was also my dad.
What are three things every teacher should own?
A reliable vehicle, a battery-backup alarm clock and they should own ownership in the role model they should be for the students they teach.
If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?
Someone strong in character, but caring - Honest and fair, yet backs you when needed, FUN and chatty with the kids, but still a good, strong disciplinarian. That someone would be my recently deceased dad, Frank Lobach.
What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
Airline Steward, love to travel!!
Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity.
My 23 years with a new group every year - - My Elem. Swing Choir's have been my all-time favorite activity, full of many fond memories.
What is the greatest misconception about teachers?
That we get paid for summer's off. Most of us paid 9 months, spread that out over 12 months -so we don't have 3 months with NO paycheck. Also, most teachers re-educate during the summer - so very seldom do we have a summer off!!
What stereotype about teachers is true?
That we are caring individuals in the business of caring about kids.
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
After that junior high experience - I knew, something in me changed and I followed my dad's footsteps all the way and I'm so glad I did. It's been a great ride!!
