Who was your favorite teacher? Why?
Mrs. Judy Miller, my first grade teacher is my favorite teacher! She taught me to believe in myself and helped me find my strengths. She is why I am a teacher today. I have been trying to look for her to thank her but have had no luck.
What are three things every teacher should own?
2. E-Z Grader
3. Hot Tub to relax in at home!
If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?
Rosa Parks. She stood up for what she believed. We need principals that will stand up for their school and what we believe.
What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity
Last year, I brought my guitar to school. I had my students create a song for nouns and verbs. We presented to the other classes. All the teachers said their students could not stop singing the songs. My students felt very proud.
What is the greatest misconception about teachers?
Our job is easy. YEAH RIGHT!! We have one of the hardest jobs and people don't give us enough credit. Although, at the end of the day, seeing those students learn means more to me than what people think about our jobs.
What stereotype about teachers is true?
We talk a lot. It is so true! During planning, we try really hard to plan but end up chit chatting the entire time. Oh well.
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
My brother said that I would try to get my family to be my students and I would teach them. When my family was uncooperative or busy, I would line up my poor dolls and be their teacher. When I moved up to high school, I would lock my door and walk around reading my homework to study. I was playing imaginary teacher to study and it worked. Ever since, I knew that is what I wanted to do.
