Teaching Motto: Touch one person's life and you can change the world!!

Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

I have three favorite teachers: Tyann Jones, Mark Ketelhut, and Mary Christopherson. They believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. If it were not for their faith in me and their encouragement to go for my dreams, I would have dropped out of high school my sophomore year.

What are three things every teacher should own?

1.) Computer- it is the way of the future. 2.) Pencils- without pencils, you can not capture your dreams and goals. 3.) Camera-to capture the milestones of their students.

If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?

Mary Poppins would make a great principal. She taught the children in her movie to reach for their goals and that if they believed it, anything could happen.

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?

Pediatric Nurse. I would love to be able to help children who are hurting and teach them how to love unconditionally.

Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity

We are strict and we make sure our students follow the rules.

What is the greatest misconception about teachers?

I knew that I wanted to be a teacher after working in an office for 6 months as bookkeeper and seeing how people were not making good financial decisions. I then decided that I wanted to teach children how to handle finances so that they would not need to rely on loans and credit cards.

What stereotype about teachers is true?

That we shush and correct random children in public. I've been known to ask a teenager to take his hoodie off his head in the mall--it really was a knee-jerk reaction =)
