Mrs. Jean Holt, my fourth grade teacher. She always made learning fun. She taught many of her lessons using very creative methods. I especially loved when she would have her husband come to our classroom with his guitar.

I love it when we grow butterflies in the spring. My students also love this activity. It is hands on and every child gets to be involved.

What is the greatest misconception about teachers?

That we have the summers off. Many teachers use that time to renew their passion for teaching and to further their own educations.

What stereotype about teachers is true?

That we love kids.

How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?

During high school, I got to volunteer in a kindergarten class at our school for an hour a day. It was always so much fun to watch the kids learn new things. I enjoyed helping them when they would struggle with a skill. It was one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done in my life.
