Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

Dr. Adler who was my Shakespeare professor in college because she really made Shakespeare come alive.

What are three things every teacher should own?

A notepad to jot ideas down at 3 a.m., a good stapler, and a good pencil sharpener

If you could have any person (living, dead or fictional) as a principal, who would it be?

The person would have to be impartial, and make decisions that actually make sense. My choice would be Martin Luther King, Jr.

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?

Wedding coordinator/event planner

Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity

I enjoy teaching my students how to write an executive summary because they have to think about issues/concerns that are real and then propose a viable solution to the problem.

What is the greatest misconception about teachers?

That we became teachers just to get the summers off! The other one that really gets me going is that lack of student achievement is all my fault!

What stereotype about teachers is true?

We are thieves - we will steal a good idea any chance we get.

How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?

I come from a long line of educators on both sides of my family. After working for the federal government for 15 years, I just did not feel as though I was making a difference.
