Stimulus Funding: How do you want it used? |
|
The payday is coming... I've been reading all about this big bucks flooding into school districts starting next month.
The bigtime K-12 funds include:
- $44.5 billion to prevent layoffs and cut backs
- $13 billion in Title I schools for low income districts
- $12.2 billion for IDEA special education
- nearly $1 billion in funding for Ed Tech and in
- $2.1 billion for Head Start
- $300 million for higher teacher salaries (woo woo!)
- $250 million for better ways to analyze student performance
Not to mention Arne Duncan's $5 billion discretionary budget to further innovation in education.
It seems like the opportunity for education grants, classroom technology, and professional development. But what does this really mean to you? What changes, improvements or (buzzword of the moment) innovations would you make?
If you were given your share of the budget for your classroom/school, what would spend it on?
