Ning - it's not just a funny word

Thanks to nings, social networking has gotten more teacher friendly. Through ning and other sites, individuals can start their own sites based on personal or professional interests. Members of the group can create profiles, blogs and participate in the discussion boards just like other networking. There are a number of excellent education-related nings out there.

Evelyn McCormack blogged about it last week on her school communications blog. Check out the top teacher nings at:

http://nylady.edublogs.org/2008/11/12/nings-for-educators/

In addition to Evelyn's list, I've also come across an intelligent ning site for educators called Fireside learning.http://firesidelearning.ning.com/

They host the standard discussions and blogs, but there are also "book club" type chats and a collection of videos - from educational to inspirational.

Do you ning?
